Caretaker Finance Minister Ghazi Wazni signed Tuesday a landmark contract with a US firm to conduct forensic auditing of Lebanon’s Central Bank (BDL) accounts, a crucial requirement of the International Monetary Fund.
A statement by the Finance Ministry said that Wazni signed a contract with New York-based Alvarez & Marsal company to conduct forensic auditing of BDL and two separate contracts with KPMG and Oliver Wyman to conduct regular financial and accounting auditing of the Central Bank.
Wazni told The Daily Star earlier that the banking secrecy law will not hamper the work of Alvarez & Marsal.
