Hankache: Anti-Corruption Fight Must Be Equal, Not Discretionary

Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Monday deemed the anti-corruption campaign as it is currently happening as "discretionary", stressing the need for one that applies equally on everyone.

“We are in dire need of a campaign to fight corruption, provided that it would be comprehensive and non-discretionary. It should also be carried out by the Parliament, not political parties which are just using it to settle their accounts,” he said in an interview on Voice of Lebanon radio station.

Hankache stressed that the Kataeb party has decided to be an opposition force after it had refused to be a false witness inside the ruling authority, saying that the current government will likely not be productive given that it is just an extension of the previous one.

“Opposition means handling all sort of issues while being an honorable opponent who would fiercely object to anything that harms the people’s interests and support any initiative that goes in the right direction,” he added.
