Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel on Saturday condemned Hezbollah's dominion over Lebanon, saying that the country’s affairs have been handed over to the group and its leader Hassan Nasrallah.
“It is as if the state’s duties have become limited to the management of the citizens’ affairs only,” Gemayel said in an interview on Future TV, stressing the need to find a solution to the issue of Hezbollah’s arms.
“Today, the political decision-making power is in the hands of Hezbollah which, unfortunately, is being allowed to act as it pleases; we will pay the price of this crisis soon given that the country will not receive new investments as long as it is being run this way,” he added.
Gemayel said that the government is dealing recklessly with the budget deficit, saying that it is addressing this problem through frivolous actions, such as the hookah tax hike.
“Don’t the smuggling routes which are controlled by Hezbollah cost Lebanon a lot of money? Don't they represent one of the main sources of squandering same as the electricity file?” he asked.
