Hankache Slams Lebanese Banks' Limit on Weekly Withdrawals and Transfers Abroad

“Banks don’t have the right to prevent businesses and factories from transferring money abroad to purchase essential products invoking capital control in the absence of a bill allowing them to do so,” Hankache wrote on Twitter.

“You are destroying the private sector and rendering sacking employees permissible,” he added.

In another tweet, Hankache indicated that “banks do not have the right to set an unjustified ceiling of $100 or $200 on account holders’ weekly withdrawals of cash.”

“They are controlling people’s life savings and living conditions at a time of distress, after having earned a great deal of money in the past,” he added.
