Demonstrators gathered in Furn al Shebbek and in front of the Interior Ministry in Hamra and marched towards the Parliament in Downtown Beirut, carrying banners that read “No Confidence” in reference to the newly elected Cabinet.
Another march kicked off in Chevrolet towards the Justice Palace in Beirut, then to the Association of Banks in Downtown Beirut leading to the Parliament.
Protesters declared their intention to stop lawmakers from reaching the building on Tuesday in an effort to interrupt the confidence vote session.
Security Forces massed outside the Parliament and the Association of Banks.
The new government is set to present the policy statement to lawmakers on Tuesday, when PM Hassan Diab will seek the Parliament’s confidence vote for the Cabinet.
