Kataeb party on Tuesday stressed the need for a comprehensive judicial accountability without any political cover or sectarian obstacles, calling for political liability through holding early parliamentary elections.
“Any approach other than these two methods remains a media show and a waste of time,” said a statement issued by the party’s political bureau following its weekly meeting held online.
The party voiced regret over the current situation prevailing over the country following the increase in the number of coronavirus cases, calling citizens to abide by the government’s lockdown measures so as to preserve their health and safety.
“This is an individual, group and a national responsibility that must be borne together in a bid to get out of the crisis as soon as possible and avoid further collapse at all levels,” the statement said.
“In order to go back to our normal lives, a clearer and a more determined plan must be established, taking into consideration people’s health and preventing the disease’s outbreak again,” it added.
“The ruling authority has to bear its responsibility towards all the Lebanese when it comes to securing their minimum requirements to overcome this tough period.”
The Kataeb party slammed the Cabinet's delay in adopting the measures earlier approved, saying that the situation does not bear any more postponement nor exploring more plans.
