The Lebanese Kataeb party on Tuesday called for forming a fully independent government that would arrange for early parliamentary elections, stressing that the Beirut port explosion incident which was committed out of anticipation and determination will not go unnoticed.
“We will not remain silent and we will not rest until we discover the truth behind the blast that has rocked the Beirut port three weeks ago,” read a statement issued following Kataeb’s political bureau held online.
“An international, transparent and serious investigation must be carried out so as to know the real perpetrators behind the explosion and held them accountable,” the statement said.
The political bureau called on the authority to conduct a comprehensive inspection to the Lebanese regions, saying that dangerous places containing weapons depots and inflammable materials must be identified in a bid to avoid further incidents.
“Dozens of people are still missing while many others have become homeless,” the party said, blaming the current ruling authority for its failure in handling people’s sufferings following the explosion.
The Kataeb party voiced rejection for the re-replication of national unity governments and fake technocrats’ governments, reiterating call for an independent rescue government that would take full care of the economic affairs and hold early parliamentary elections.
