Resigned Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankache on Thursday called for forming an independent government that would supervise the holding of parliamentary elections, saying that the pressure exerted by the Lebanese people and the humiliation phase they have reached today is unbearable.
“There is one clear constitution in Lebanon that must be adopted and the government’s formation should take place through consultations between the designated prime minister, the parliamentary blocs and the President,” Hankache told Al-Hurra TV, urging the need to refuse establishing any new norms that would temper with the Constitution.
“The government’s formation in Lebanon is linked to all the regional and international conflicts due to the Lebanese’ inability to neutralize the country from these battles," he said.
Hankache deemed the International community as the only solution for Lebanon’s salvation, saying that lifting support on basic commodities will lead to new rates of poverty that the country has not witness before.
“Thus, a government formation might give the international community some trust and slow down the decline we are going through,” he pointed out.
