Schenker Calls for Promptly Concluding Maritime Borders Demarcation Negotiations

President Michel Aoun on Friday met with U.S. assistant secretary of Near Eastern affairs David Schenker at the Presidential Palace in Baabda with talks featuring high on ways to conclude the maritime borders demarcation negotiations as soon as possible, praising the President’s role in facing corruption and changing the approach that was lately prevailing over the country.

For his part, Aoun stressed that Lebanon is heavily relying on the U.S. mediating role to reach fair solutions during the negotiations on demarcating the southern maritime borders.

“Work is currently ongoing so as to establish a clean government that would focus on achieving the necessary reforms,” he said, deeming forensic scrutiny as an essential step to restore the State’s rights and revive the economy.
