Resigned Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankache on Thursday slammed the ruling authority for its failure in holding the by-elections while the Parliament convened in a very normal way, accusing them of negligence in properly addressing the Beirut port investigation.
“Yesterday’s scene was shameful. The victims’ families were protesting in front of the Parliament while lawmakers were attending the session as if nothing is happening,” Hankache told Voice of Lebanon radio station.
“This authority in unable to hold by-elections. Where are those who were calling for early parliamentary elections and have not voted with us when we proposed the early elections?” he asked.
“This country and this State have failed,” he added.
“Where is the conscience of this ruling system?”
