Turkish FM Criticizes U.S. Move on Iran Oil Waivers

Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, blasted the U.S. plan to end sanctions waivers on Iranian oil sales, warning that such a move will negatively affect regional peace and harm Iranian people.

"Turkey rejects unilateral sanctions and impositions on how to conduct relations with neighbors," Çavuşoğlu wrote on Twitter.

He blasted U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s comments proposing Saudi Arabia and the UAE as alternatives to Iranian oil saying that it goes too far and is ethically wrong.

"This violates the regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and poses a risk to stability in the region," he said.
