Norway's Sommarøy island is seeking to become the world’s free time-zone, as the locals signed a petition to put forth their demand to the country's parliament. On this island, whose name means the "Summer Island” and which is located north of the Arctic Circle, the sun doesn't set from May 18 to July 26; then, the polar night extends from November to January, when the sun doesn't rise at all.
