Padukone shared the announcement via Instagram on Thursday, stating that she was “beyond thrilled” to be part of the “Louis Vuitton family”, adding “to be part of Nicholas Ghesquiere’s vision for the world’s most iconic brand is not only exciting but also very humbling!”
Ghesquiere is the brand’s artistic director of womenswear, and took over from Marc Jacobs in 2013.
The pre-fall campaign’s reference the covers of pulp novels, crossing into the genres of romance, horror and sci-fi. Other actresses featured in the campaign include Sophie Turner, Lea Seydoux, Alicia Vikander, and Chloe Grace. The models pose against backgrounds with book titles such as Arachnomania and Secret Spell.
In her advertising poster, Padukone wears a checkered black and white dress with a gray overcoat and green quilted boots against the backdrop of a book cover, specifically Michelle Gagnon’s Don’t Turn Around.
The 34-year-old actress has become one of India’s most popular celebrities, promoting other global brands such as L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline, Tissot and Coca-Cola.
On Monday, Padukone was the recipient of a Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum at Davos for her work supporting mental health.
