Candlelit vigils were held on Thurday across the country to honor and pay tribute to the martyred Alaa Abou Fakher in the wake of his funeral.
Candles were lit around the martyr's image at the party’s headquarters in Saifi as Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel laid a wreath at the memorial, written on it ‘from Saifi to the martyr of the revolution’.
“To Alaa, we will build a Lebanon in the image of your children, a Lebanon without discrimination, without boundaries, a country of peace and unity. You are one of us,” a big sign said, placed next to Abou Fakher’s portrait.
MP Elias Hankache, Kataeb's Secretary-General Nazar Najarian along with a number of partisans and comrades attended the ceremony.
Abou Fakher, a 38-year-old father of three, was allegedly shot and killed by a member of the Lebanese Army, after he attempted to block a road in Khaldeh as part of the nationwide protests.
