Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Thursday stressed that there will be no salvation for Lebanon except by changing the whole ruling system, affirming that confrontation requires unifying the change forces, goals and movements.
“How can we trust you with the Beirut blast investigations in a time where you cannot even control the crime scene and now that another massive fire has erupted at the port?” Gemayel asked during a press conference held in Bickfayya.
“40 days have passed on the explosion; we assure you that we won't forget, and we won't forgive,” he noted.
“All of the parties who have been involved in the presidential settlement and have handed the country to Hezbollah are responsible for the destruction and the situation we have reached today,” he said, calling for holding an international probe that would reveal the truth behind the explosion.
Gemayel stressed the need to conduct a daily report that would prove the transparency of the investigation, wondering why there is no operating room to follow-up on the people who have been affected by the blast.
“On December 6, 2019, a detailed report has been submitted by officer Joseph Al-Naddaf to the State’s Security Bureau, in which he warned about the danger of the explosive materials present at the port and that they might caused a huge explosion if they were burned,” he said.
“Can someone explain why this report wasn’t delivered to the Prime Minister until 6/8/2020? Or you just thought that this is an ordinary matter, so you kept it for 6 months in the administration? he asked.
“None of you felt like a responsibility must be taken towards such an atomic bomb?”
The Kataeb leader called on the party’s supporters to support everyone rejecting the current system, deeming unity as only solution towards having a better and a brighter future.
