Former President Amine Gemayel on Thursday voiced regret over the political system’s ongoing destructive approach, blaming it for the failure of the French initiative that was intended to form a responsible, impartial, transparent and capable government.
“The solution today lies in forming a new work team that is distinguished by its competence, transparency, ability and commitment,” Gemayel told Egyptian CBC Extra News.
The former president called for halting all kinds of behavior exerted by Iran and Hezbollah in the country, urging to stop all forms of Iranian tutelage over the Lebanese constitutional institutions.
“Thus putting an end to the self-sovereignty exercised by Hezbollah unilaterally at the Lebanese legitimacy’s expense,” he said.
Gemayel renewed call for an international probe into the Beirut port blast.
