Joyce Gemayel Says Lebanese Don't Deserve the Humiliation They Are Experiencing Today

The wife of former President Amine Gemayel, Joyce Gemayel on Saturday voiced regret over the situation that is prevailing over Lebanon today, calling on the Lebanese to remain in their country and their land as they should not lose their hope for change.

“We are devastated. It is very difficult to see what is happening with the Lebanese people,” Gemayel told Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel and the party’s ministers have deiced to resign from the government of former Prime Minister Tammam Salam as soon as they witnessed the shady deals and quotas that were plaguing the Cabinet,” she said.

“A million and a half Lebanese have taken to the streets and still no change has been made by this political class,” she added, stressing that the Lebanese people are not used to the humiliation they are experiencing today.

Gemayel paid tribute to martyr Minister Pierre Gemayel on his 14th assassination anniversary, recalling all the good time she has spent with him before his death.

“Pierre's hard work did not go for nothing. His brother Samy is following the same path with all strength, boldness and cleanliness for the country's sake,” he added.
