Gemayel Meets with Egyptian Ambassador, Stresses Need to Hold Parliamentary Elections on Time

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday met with Egyptian ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Alaoui at his office in Sin el Fil, with talks featuring high on the latest developments in Lebanon, namely the issue of holding early parliamentary elections.

Gemayel stressed that Lebanon is now at the edge of collapse, saying that it needs measures on more than one level to halt the breakdown it is facing today.

“The first step towards putting the country back on the right track is to form a new Parliament as soon as possible,” Gemayel said, warning against any attempt to extend the current Parliament and postpone the elections in a bid to keep Lebanon as a hostage of the current system.

The meeting was attended by the party’s International Affairs Officer, Marwan Abdallah and the party’s Foreign Affairs Dr, Michel Abi Abdallah.
