Hankach Says Sanctions Are Enough Pressure to Form a New Government

Resigned lawmaker Elias Hankache on Thursday stressed that Lebanon is kidnapped by the current ruling elite, blaming the officials’ lack of responsibility for this matter.

“All the countries, namely France, urge the Lebanese responsible to form a government,” Hankache told Al-Hadath news channel.

“France’s President Emmanuel Macron thought he was dealing with State men, not realizing that they are leaders lying on their people,” he said.

“Lebanon has now become at the heart of the collapse,” he added, saying that those who are obstructing the formation of a new government are many.

“Are the sanctions putting enough pressure on the Lebanese authorities to form a new government? He asked.

“Will this work?”

Hankache stressed that the International community has no other way to exert pressure, saying giving the country a new chance will only lead to a total collapse.

“We, now, have to preserve what has been left so as to survive,” he ended.
