Kataeb party's Deputy President Selim Sayegh on Wednesday deemed the battle of lifting immunities as illusional, saying that what matters today is not to obstruct the judicial investigation.
“The main battle is not the issue of lifting immunities but rather a “Don Quixote” battle,” Sayegh told Voice of Lebanon radio station.
“The most important thing is not to disrupt the judicial investigation as we see officials trying to obstruct the investigation of Judge of Tarek Bitar,” he said, stressing the importance of the Judiciary’s popular immunity.
Sayegh accused President Michel Aoun of irresponsibility, saying that if he respected himself he would have resigned when the explosion happened.
“As s president, Aoun should have handled things in another way, with him knowing that there is a semi-nuclear bomb preparing to be exploded in Beirut at any moment,” he noted.
