Four Nordic countries topped the five spots in the 2019 World Happiness Report, with Finland retaining the first rank for the second year in a row.
Finland was followed by Denmark, Norway, Iceland, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada and Austria. The U.S. ranked 19 while the UK was placed 15th.
South Sudan and the Central African Republic were ranked as the least happy countries.
The five sharpest declines were in Venezuela, Syria, Botswana, India and Yemen.
The survey based the ranking on six main factors: GDP per capita; social support, life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and corruption levels.
