Queen Elizabeth's Malta Villa Put up for Sale

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s Villa Guardamangia, where they lived between 1949 and 1951, is up for sale for $6.7 million.

The villa, located in the hamlet of Gwardamangia in central Malta, used to be the royal couple's residence during their early years of marriage, when the Duke of Edinburgh was still stationed on the Mediterranean island as a naval officer.

They left before the Queen ascended the throne in 1952.

“The Casa Guardamangia or Casa Medina is an amazing grand Palazzo-style property with sea views over Marsamxett Harbour. It enjoys many authentic architectural features such as an imposing wide-fronted facade, an elaborate porch, arched entrance hall, original wide staircase, stone floors and various fireplaces," the listing indicates.

"The property is just crying out for a great conversion and will make a superb residence or possibly a commercial venue," it adds.

The 1,560 square meters property consists of a lounge, dining room, living room and kitchen, as well as six bedrooms and three bathrooms, stables, various guest/servant quarters, cellars, and a shelter.
