Busquets Tests Positive for COVID-19 in Latest Round of PCR Tests

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have announced that Sergio Busquets has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Spain captain tested positive on Sunday morning after the latest round of PCR tests for the squad. All the other team members tested negative as the medical team adapted all the necessary measures established by the Ministry of Health and UEFA.

Busquets is now self-isolating after leaving the Las Rozas team base in a medical vehicle, alongside those he came into close contact with and a decision will be made on when he will be able to rejoin the squad.

In terms of the friendly against Lithuania, Luis de la Fuente will take charge of a team made up of Under-21 players. The RFEF will also refund the full cost of any tickets for the game at Butarque to those who make a request before 14:00 CEST on Monday.

Spain begin their European Championship campaign against Ukraine on Monday June 14.
